Response to Online Article: Second Thoughts About Kids and Their Cell Phones

Phones are an issue but I don’t think it is necessary for them to be taken away from kids. Certain rights on the phone should be taken away though. A phone is really mainly used for talking to others. What needs to be taken away is picture messaging for certain people. There was an incident in my middle school (Holdrum) where a girl sent around her picture by phone. A lot of people got the picture but it became an issue when somebody printed it out on the computer. Some kids misuse the picture messaging but others use it for certain things for homework help and pictures of big buildings and to remember where you’ve been. The phone really isn’t an issue except for certain kids that feel the need to use the phone for bad things. The real issue is what the parents allow them to have blocked and un-blocked on their phones.
